Wherever you go, there you are.- Or are you?
During our day to day lives we have many distractions. We often think of what we need to get done (future thoughts) or what happened yesterday (past thoughts). Very seldom do we actually keep our mind in the “here and nowâ€.
I am sure you have either been or have heard of “Being in the Zoneâ€, this is where everything just comes together. The more you are in the zone, the more focused you are – and the happier you seem to be. Well, being in the Zone starts with being in the moment – a professional athlete is in the moment more often than say, a weekend warrior. An artist is in the moment when they are creating art. Well, the more you are in the moment, the more at peace you will be. We can get there through different methods. We have sitting meditation, we have standing meditation and we have moving meditation – each one develops and disciplines the mind differently.
Sitting Mediation – Ch'an (also known as Zen in Japanese)
Sitting at Peace. First we learn to focus our consciousness on the present. Learning to let go of the past and to relax about the future. We learn to focus on our breath within our bodies. This starts to reduce stress by synchronizing the left and right hemispheres of the brain, it also pulls you into the moment. If this was the only thing that meditation did it would be well worth our while to practice everyday – but, that's just the start!
Why Should You Be In The Moment? Well, you cant change the past – so, stop dwelling on it and the future never happens so your energy is wasted.
So, WHEREVER YOU ARE PLEASE BE THERE –
To Your Health
